Hyena
Hyena is a motorcycle designed for use in extreme environments, such as disaster rescue, material searching, ecological protection and field research. The outer shell is mainly made of magnesium alloy and carbon fibre sheet, which keep the weight low. Magnesium alloy is recyclable. A connected communication system links each motorcycle to the team and to the command centre. Three warning tones signal danger, appreciation and alert. Each tone is sent with the location of the rider, so information is shared quickly during high-risk work.
Hyena motorcycle for extreme environment by Xiangzhi Zhao was highlighted as an innovative representation of industrial design by the A' Design Awards. Hyena motorcycle for extreme environment was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in Vehicle, Mobility and Transportation Design in 2021. The A' Vehicle, Mobility and Transportation Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design competition which rewards exceptional design of cars, motorcycles, bicycles, trucks, buses, trains, ships, aircrafts and more.
